Mu Theta is a dynamic chapter with many accomplishments to its credit. Our board has developed a 5-year strategic plan. Our goals include increasing membership involvement, supporting research activities, encouraging leadership deve- lopment and fund-raising to promote scholarship. In addition, we are working to increase our chapter's visibility. If any of these areas are of interest to you and you can share your time and talent with us, please contact me.
In its Vision 2020 Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) states that by 2020 this will be the organization of choice for scholarship, knowledge and leadership for nurses globally. STTI is a dynamic exciting orga- nization in which to be a member. Nursing is becoming truly global and our organization is at the forefront of these efforts. Mu Theta supports this goal and recently 5 of its’ members went to the Dominican Republic caring for people with little access to health care. The chapter also participated in a UN day where we toured the building and had a briefing about global health issues. Carol Huston, STTI president acknowledged the importance of the event by her attendance and presentation. Mu Theta members have access to a multitude of learning experiences and opportunities, international conferences held yearly, nationally noted speakers in our area and the ability to make a difference.
